Everett received its first commitment from the 2014 bantam draft today as the Tips announced third rounder Bryce Kindopp has signed a WHL education contract with the team.
Kindopp, a forward from Lloydminster, Alberta, was Everett’s second pick in this year’s bantam draft, as the Tips did not have a second rounder. The 5-foot-11, 148-pounder is considered a strong two-way player who had 63 points (26 goals, 37 assists) in 33 games with the Lloydminster Heat, which won the provincial championship. He’s not eligible to play full-time for the Tips until the 2015-16 season.
The Tips are still awaiting a commitment from their first rounder, defenseman Jantzen Leslie. This is a bit of a sore subject for Everett as 2013 first rounder Tyson Jost has not signed with the Tips and committed to play in the BCHL this season as a 16-year-old. However, Leslie was a teammate of Kindopp’s and the two are good friends, so I suspect Everett won’t have to wait long before Leslie joins the fold, too.
