Weekend best bets: Garden tour, brewfest, bluegrass and more

Blooming brightly: The Edmonds in Bloom garden tour is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Seven gardens are on the tour, including a quiet woodland in Woodway, a Tuscan-style garden with westerly views in Edmonds and a fabric artist’s garden in Meadowdale, where the plants are often used to make dyes. Hop to it: Kla Ha Ya Days is already under way and runs through Sunday. One of the highlights, the frog jumping contest, is at 2 p.m. on Saturday. There’s also a carnival, parade and lots more. Get more info in our story here.

Brews: The Brewfest at Country Village in Bothell is at 1 p.m. Saturday and features eight local breweries, including Lazy Boy Brewing and Foggy Noggin Brewing. The entry fee is $20 and includes a sampler glass and six 4-ounce tasters.

Bluegrass: The Darrington Bluegrass Festival runs through Sunday. There will be plenty of performances, but there will also be many musicians there just to listen and play with other bluegrass fans. Read more about one family of performers in our story here.

Rock it: The Darrington Rock and Gem Show and Sale is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mansford Grange. There will be amateur dealers, excited rock-hounds, one of a kind jewelry and more.

Celebrate: A free music and dance festival is 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Lynnwood Convention Center on 196th Street. Activities include storytelling and arts and crafts for children. There will also be Irish, Mexican, Peruvian, Filipino, Chinese, Korean and hip-hop dance groups, along with a big variety of music groups. Outside: Passport to Port Susan, a family event, is from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Conservancy’s Port Susan Bay Preserve. The event includes activities for kids and the chance to learn about the environment from local scientists. Meet at the Stanwood Park and Ride at 267th Street NW for a short, free shuttle ride to the preserve.

Street fair: The Mill Creek Festival and Street Fair is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be live entertainment, kids’ activities, arts and crafts. The main stage and beer garden are open from noon to 7 p.m. A free shuttle is available from Jackson High School. Get more info here.

Speed crabbing: Try your luck in the crabbing derby at the Port of Everett on Saturday. It’s free to register. Get more info here
