SEATTLE — A Maryland man has died from injuries he suffered in a July 12 accident on U.S. 2 near Monroe.
Lee Surut, 89, died this past weekend at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, officials said. His wife, 85, also was taken to Harborview after the crash.
She suffered a broken leg and was listed Monday in satisfactory condition. No other serious injuries were reported.
The crash happened about 1 p.m. where the highway crosses Fern Bluff Road, between Monroe and Sultan.
Troopers believe that a Honda Civic was turning across the highway when it was struck by a westbound Saturn. The Maryland man was a passenger in the Saturn.
The Washington State Patrol’s investigation is ongoing, trooper Mark Francis said.
