The Pacific Little League 12-year-old All Star baseball team captured the state championship Saturday at the Bar-S Playground in West Seattle.
Pacific won the title by battling its way through the losers bracket. Needing to beat Federal Way twice on Saturday, Pacific won 2-1 and 12-2.
Federal Way had defeated Pacific 13-7 in the quarterfinals.
With the victory, Pacific advances to the regional tournament in San Bernardino, California, where it will compete against the state champions from Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska for a spot in the Little League World Series. Pacific opens regional play Aug. 1 against Oregon.
This marks the first time in 22 years that Pacific Little League ? which draws players from Edmonds, Lynnwood and unincorporated Snohomish County ? has sent a team to the regionals.
The Pacific All-Stars are led by team manager Robley Corsi, Jr., and assistant coaches Eric Grant, Ross Kruse and Sean Durbin.
The All-Star roster includes Robley Corsi III, Read Carr, Tygan Duncan, Tyler Durbin, Ben Grant, Nate King, Logan Kruse, Ian Michael, Tai Starchman, Karsen Tjarneberg, Matthew Turcotte, Mason Vaughn and Colton Walsh.
