Jurassic Quest dinosaurs stomp into Comcast Arena this weekend

The dog days of summer are here, often leaving parents wondering how to keep their children occupied.

The folks at Comcast Arena in Everett have a suggestion: Jurassic Quest, a dinosaur adventure for the entire family, is coming to town for a weekend visit Saturday and Sunday.

Picture life-size apatosaurus dinosaurs that move and even carry young kids on slow rides across the arena floor.

“This is a very visual exhibit,” said Cortney Putters, a spokeswoman for the Global Spectrum production company at Comcast Arena. “It’s great for any age, but probably best for preschoolers and elementary school students.”

The main dinosaur exhibit features realistic “animatronic” dinosaurs, according to the Jurrasic Quest website.

More than 50 dinosaurs are included. Even little “baby” dinos are there to entertain the kids.

In addition, people can expect mazes, face painting, crafts and the “Dino Bounce” inflatable attraction.

Sounds like an amusement park fantasy, but Jurassic Quest does have an educational component.

Tour guides are on hand to talk about prehistoric times and answer questions. Children won’t want to miss the fossil digs where young paleontologists can uncover the fossilized bones of a tyrannosaurus rex or triceratops.

A quick look at reviews of the exhibit from around the country show that Jurassic Quest is worth the price of admission.

Parents should allow at least an hour or two to see and do it all, Putters said.

“This is something we’ve never had before at Comcast,” she said. “From what I’ve seen, it should provide for a good family outing.”
