EVERETT — Animal control officers are investigating an attack involving three dogs at an Everett park last week.
Gerry Porter told officials he was walking his Jack Russell, Chloe, on July 17 on the trails near Rotary Park, off Lowell Snohomish River Road, when two pit bulls ran up and attacked his dog.
Chloe, 10, was severely injured and has undergone several surgeries, said Porter’s wife, Julia.
The owner of the pit bulls reportedly took off with them in an older dark green Honda Accord.
Before the attack, the man yelled at Gerry Porter to lift up his dog and get her off the ground, Julia Porter said.
“She squirmed out of his arms, and those two pit bulls just grabbed her and tore her apart,” she said.
Chloe is expected to survive.
The owner of the pit bulls was described as white, in his mid-30s with dark hair.
“At this time, the case is open and officers continue to gather information, but we have no leads on identifying a suspect,” city spokeswoman Meghan Pembroke said. “Officers are on alert in case the dogs return to the area.”
