Pat Benatar and husband, Neil Giraldo, to play Tulalip on July 31

Pat Benatar and her husband and collaborator Neil “Spyder” Giraldo make a stop on their 35th anniversary tour at the Tulalip amphitheater on July 31.

Benatar, a rock music living legend, remains as active as she was in the 1980s when she was blazing the trail for other female rock stars. Songs such as “Hit Me with Your Best Shot,” “Heartbreaker,” and “We Belong” stick in your head as much as they did a few decades ago.

Benatar had her start in the clubs of Long Island and Manhattan. She and guitarist Giraldo, a Cleveland native, met in 1979, and he became instrumental in forming the signature Benatar sound.

During the 1980s, the couple racked up Grammy awards and American Music awards, along with platinum sales of their albums. Married in 1982, they have two daughters.

Giraldo’s catalog includes the more than 100 songs written and produced for Benatar, along with work on hits for John Waite, Kenny Loggins and his longtime friend Rick Springfield, whose Grammy-winning “Jessie’s Girl” might be performed at the concert on Thursday.

Springfield, an actor and songwriter, has said he’s wanted to tour with Benatar and Giraldo since his hit was released in the early 1980s.

Next up at Tulalip is Michael McDonald and the band Toto on Aug. 3.
