EVERETT — A car driven into a raised utility box at Everett Community College on Tuesday morning led to a power outage and forced the college to cancel afternoon and evening classes.
The Snohomish County PUD determined that a power shut-off to many buildings on campus was required to fix the damage, college officials said.
“In order to keep the campus safe, a decision to close campus was made,” said EvCC Vice President of College Advancement John Olson.
Staff and students were notified that the main campus would close until Wednesday morning.
All day and evening classes were canceled; off-site locations remained open.
At 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, power was restored to the campus.
