EVERETT — UTC Aerospace Systems delivered its 5,000th set of landing gear for a Boeing 737 Next Generation, which is assembled in Renton.
UTC Aerospace System’s Everett facility produces landing gear for several Boeing airplanes — the 747-8, 767 and 777 — and it provides wheel and brake equipment for landing gear on the 737, 747, 767, 777 and 787. The 747, 767, 777 and 787 are assembled at Boeing’s Everett facility. The 787 is also assembled in South Carolina.
The company’s Everett facility makes multiple deliveries to Boeing assembly lines each day, according to a news release from UTC Aerospace Systems.
“Our Everett facility is designed to meet Boeing’s need for just-in-time delivery,” said Dave Castagnola, president of UTC Aerospace Systems Landing Systems. “We provide fully dressed gear — ready for attachment to Boeing aircraft — that can be installed within hours of delivery.”
United Technologies Corp., which is based in Hartford, Connecticut, owns UTC Aerospace Systems. The subsidiary company just turned 2 years old last week. It was created in 2012 after United Technologies bought Goodrich Corp., which it combined with its Hamilton Sundstrand unit.
UTC Aerospace Systems has more than 40,000 employees in more than 150 locations around the world, and it posted sales worth about $13.3 billion in 2013, according to its website.
The company recently was tapped by Boeing to continue providing maintenance services for landing gear systems on C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft operated by the U.S. Air Force.
