Medina leads AquaSox over Canadians
Medina allowed one run in the first and an unearned run in the sixth before handing the ball to Trey Cochran-Gill, who pitched the final two innings and collected the save in his AquaSox debut.
The AquaSox (21-38) took their first lead of the game in the seventh inning after right fielder Isaiah Yates drove in Jordan Cowan to give Everett a 3-2 lead. Kristian Brito doubled to lead off the inning. Cowan replaced Brito as a pinch runner and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt before being driven home by Yates.
Yates gave Everett an insurance run in the ninth inning, knocking an RBI double to right field that scored catcher Adam Martin. After the first two batters were retired, Martin singled to left field and scored from first on the double.
Canadians starter Jairo Labourt gave up only one run over five innings. He allowed two hits and struck out six and walked two. Labourt’s one run allowed came in the fifth inning when Taylor Smart drove in Andy Peterson with a single to left field.
