Less than an hour until kickoff, and there aren’t a lot of surprises on the list of Seahawks not expected to play (there are no official inactives in the preseason). One player who was a question mark heading into the game was Max Unger, and he is not expected to play. Other starters being held out include Kam Chancellor and Russell Okung, though Pete Carroll made it pretty clear earlier that neither would play.
Here’s the full list: WR David Gilreath, S Kam Chancellor, CB A.J. Jefferson, CB Akeem Auguste, CB Eric Pinkins, LB Bruce Irvin, LB Malcolm Smith, LB Bobby Wagner, LB Kore Toomer, C Max Unger, G C.J. Davis, DT Jimmy Staten, DT Michael Brooks, T Russell Okung, WR Kevin Norwood.
Not on that list? Left guard James Carpenter, who like Unger missed last week’s game and was not certain to play this week. Running back Marshawn Lynch was also not on that list and is currently on the field in full uniform, though that doesn’t mean for certain that he’ll make his preseason debut tonight.
UPDATE: DE Michael Bennett is not in uniform while the team goes through pregame warmups, so it’s probably safe to assume he’s not playing either.
As for punt returns, we saw Earl Thomas, Richard Sherman, Percy Harvin, Jeremy Lane and Bryan Walters all catching punts in warmups, so we’ll probably see some or all of them doing that job tonight.
