Identity of body confirmed as that of missing woman, 89

EVERETT — Officials confirmed Monday that a body found near Lake Stevens last week was that of a missing 89-year-old Everett woman, Ethel O’Neil. The cause of her death is under investigation, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office. Police do not suspect foul play.
O’Neil was missing for nearly a month after she left her home to go shopping. She had early signs of dementia.
Her car was spotted Aug. 12 by a county search-and-rescue helicopter team. She was found inside.
Everett police and the Snohomish County sheriff’s office are investigating.
