Officer shoots woman near Oregon gas station
PORTLAND, Ore. — Police shot and critically injured a woman at a gas station near Albany, Oregon.
Albany police Capt. Eric Carter says an officer from the Springfield Police Department shot 44-year-old Amanda Gatewood early Thursday.
Carter says the Springfield woman was behind the wheel of a stolen car and led police on a chase to a Chevron station four miles south of Albany. Carter says the woman pointed a replica handgun at officers and was shot. He declined to say how many shots the officer fired.
Gatewood was taken to a Corvallis hospital, where she was in critical condition.
