SEATTLE — Divers in Seattle are trying to recover the body of a man authorities believe drowned after he drove a stolen car off a dock and into the water.
Police and fire rescue teams were called to the Ship Canal late Wednesday night after receiving reports that a Nissan Sentra had driven off a pier. Authorities say they saw a man in the water, calling for help. However the man refused to grab a rope that was repeatedly thrown to him and pushed an officer away who tried to rescue him.
The man then went under the water. Police said Wednesday they believe he was driving a car that was stolen Monday.
