I am shocked that the Cross Valley Water District would turn off water to a small family farm, disputing a meter installation agreement from decades ago. (Aug. 18 article, “Snohomish farmer, water district spar over $11,000 charge.”) I cannot imagine this will hold up in court, and will probably cost the district far more than the money they would like to recover by profiting from installing another meter. Water is a basic human right in our country, and any family which has paid their bill on time for 60-plus years does not deserve this kind of extortion and harassment. We need to protect and value our local family farms!
