So, we want to tell you a few things ...
First, obviously I'm sunburned. But more importantly, it's the return of prep sports!
Here at The Herald, we've gone through a bit of change this summer. We're finally settled into our new office, which, personally I love. I have my very own desk and there's a basketball hoop in the parking lot. I'm not particularly talented, but will happily shoot around with any of you if you stop by.
The biggest adjustment has been the departure of former Prep Editor Aaron Swaney. Fortunately, our good friend has not traveled far. He just took a (some might say, more boring) job as the Features Editor at The Herald. In his place, it was determined that myself and fellow-longtime Herald Writer Aaron Lommers would be given the keys to The Herald's prep sports department.
We are eager for the challenge.
We are determined to be the top source for local prep sports news. We love our jobs, love talking to you guys and encourage you to keep the lines of communication open. We can be reached at email@example.com and/or firstname.lastname@example.org.
As we take over the prep sports department we wanted to do so with a bang. So, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Snohomish Times Sports Network and the Sound Live Sports Network which will allow us to broadcast over 80 high school fall sports events, including every football game from Edmonds and Everett Memorial stadiums on Friday nights. We are very excited about this partnership and hope it helps bring you closer to the action.
Aaron Lommers and I plan to continue our weekly radio show, Prep Sports Weekly, Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. on Fox Sports 1380 AM., where we will interview local athletes and coaches. Prep Sports Weekly will re-air Friday nights from 5:30-6:30 p.m., leading in to the station's weekly football game.
We will also maintain our prep sports podcast on iTunes, and will be joined this year by Sound Live Sports announcer Steve Willits. He will help serve as moderator while making sure Aaron Lommers and I don't just yell at each other for 45 minutes each week.
Despite all the changes that have occurred, we at The Herald remain focused on doing the best job we can to shine the spotlight on the incredible local athletes we have in our community. Aaron Lommers and I take this job, which we absolutely love and have been doing for as long as I can remember, very seriously and hope to continue to provide you with excellent coverage of your hometown players.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Now, I better get back to work!
