EVERETT — Greg Goetz tried to look on the bright side after someone broke the double-paned front door to the paralegal business he and his wife operate on Broadway.
“It could have been worse,” he said. “It could have been a break-in. It could have been in the middle of winter.”
Their business, Peaceful Separations, which helps couples going through uncontested divorces, was one of roughly a dozen properties left with shattered windows Wednesday.
Goetz said the vandal threw a piece of pavement with such force it spread shards of glass to the far side of the office.
Everett police arrested a 37-year-old man Wednesday morning and booked him into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of malicious mischief. They believe he caused roughly $15,000 in damage to the buildings between the 2600 and 3600 blocks of Broadway and on the 3200 block of Smith Avenue.
The vandalism occurred early Wednesday morning, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. In each case, it appeared someone smashed windows with rocks and, in at least the one case, the chunk of pavement.
Police were aided by a witness in the 2600 block of Broadway. The witness called 911, followed the suspect and identified him when police arrived, Snell said.
Police also are reviewing surveillance camera footage.
