In response to the Friday letter from a Tulalip resident who questioned having to pay for a Chamber of Commerce breakfast to hear candidates debate: The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County will have three free to the public candidate forums in the next several weeks and are partnering with the Snohomish County Long Term Care and Aging to have yet another.
On Sept. 24 the first League of Women Voters candidates’ forum will be 5:30 p.m. at the downtown Everett Library. The moderator will be a league member and candidates will answer questions submitted by the league and Snohomish County citizens.
On Oct. 7, a Candidates Forum on Washington’s Aging Readiness will be 3 p.m. at the Carl Gipson Senior Center. A number of organizations are involved in sponsoring this, including the LWV. The candidates at this forum will answer questions focused on needs the aging population of our county.
The LWV of Snohomish County is organizing two more forums next month in co-operation with Sno-Isle Libraries: at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 8, at the Lynnwood Library, and 6:30 p.m., Oct. 9, at the Mukilteo Library. Candidates for state and county seats have been invited to each and these forums are open to the public.
I hope your letter writer and other citizens of Snohomish County will take advantage of these opportunities to get to know their candidates for public office.
Lynn Carpenter
President
