What: Zinnia “Zahara Double Cherry”
An outstanding selection for any mixed border, this annual is in bloom from early summer until fall. Its large cherry colored blossoms are eye catching, both to people and to the butterflies who flock to them. “Zahara Double Cherry” won the 2010 All American Selection Award for the best bedding plant of the year. The plant’s tolerance to heat, humidity and drought, made it a perfect choice for the Beijing Olympics. While zinnias are known to mildew, “Zahara” is very resistant to it, reducing the need to plant them far apart.
Sun or shade: Zinnias need full sun.
Size: “Zahara” grows 12-18 inches tall
See it: In the All American Selection Garden within the WSU Snohomish County Master Gardener Demonstration Garden at Jennings Memorial Park, 6915 Armar Road, Marysville.
