Monroe Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest Monroe starts at noon Friday and continues through Sunday at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds.
Mike “Mr. Dizzy Motorsports” Buse is to serve as the festmaster. The Monroe native is a five-time world record holder in extreme sports.
Buse is expected to toast the crowd and swing a mallet into a large wooden keg so beer pours out, signifying the event’s official start, at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
Bands and dancers will perform throughout the weekend.
Tickets cost $10 for adults. Children 12 and younger get in free. Admission is free Friday from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday is half-price all day.

Paperless report cards? The Edmonds School District is looking at sending report cards electronically, via the Skyward Family Access system, rather than mailing hard copies to students’ homes. A one-minute survey is at tinyurl.com/km4gf2b through Thursday to gauge support. Parents of students in kindergarten through 12th grade are asked to participate.
