Recently I took a small load of refuse, two plastic totes and one leaf bag, all fitting in the back seat of a Mini Cooper, to the Arlington transfer station. I dumped my few items, and was directed out another route to a booth where I encountered a not so kind county employee who reprimanded me for not having my vehicle weighed before I entered. I was then charged a minimum fee of $20.. The entry had no sign to indicate a minimum fee or that I must weigh. There was a direct route to the dump area bypassing the booth. We pay some of the highest property taxes in the U.S., let alone gas tax. Come on, people, is it any wonder that our roadsides are littered with everything from bottles to mattresses? Go look outside the transfer stations where debris is dumped at night. You can see it on a daily basis.
