Mark: Storm drain project in Mukilteo

Help remind others to keep pollution out of Puget Sound by placing medallions that read “No Dumping. Drains to Sound” on storm drains in public areas of Mukilteo.

The WSU Beach Watchers offer the storm drain medallion kits and training on how to place them, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and again on July 30, in the lower parking lot at the Rosehill Community Center, 304 Lincoln Ave. RSVP is required. Can’t make it? Contact Beach Watchers for information on how to take part.

Dance: Village’s next shindig coming up

Adults with developmental disabilities are invited to the next Evening with the Arts, a monthly dance featuring live music by Voices of the Village and Jon Dalgarn of Out of the Ashes. The next dance is 5:30-7:30 p.m. July 14 at Immaculate Conception Church, 1200 E Fifth St., Arlington.

Participants must be over age 18 to attend the dance. Cost is $5 and includes a snack, beverage and arts and crafts activity. Caregivers and volunteers attend for free.

Learn: Lynnwood U open for enrollment

Lynnwood University is an eight-week course offered free to Lynnwood residents that explains how city government works through demonstrations, tours and hands-on activities.

The next class series is 6:30-9 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 8 to Oct. 27, at various locations.

A few of the planned activities:

Visit Fire Station 15, try on fire fighting gear, and climb the 100-foot ladder

Meet the SWAT team and a Police K-9

Tour the Traffic Management Center

Volunteer: Lighthouse Festival seeks help

The Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival seeks volunteers. Learn about volunteer opportunities at 7 p.m. July 20 at the Chamber of Commerce, 4902 76th St. SW, 425-353-5516. The festival is scheduled for Sept. 9, 10 and 11.

Apply: Scholarships for adults

The Stanwood-Camano Area Foundation offers several scholarships — valued at $500 to $3,000 — to adult students seeking advanced education or needing additional training or education to compete in the workforce.

To be eligible, applicants must reside within the boundaries of the Stanwood-Camano School District or be former graduates of either Stanwood or Lincoln Hill high schools and have financial need. Some scholarships have additional requirements.
