COVINGTON — A King County sheriff’s spokesman says a theft suspect driving a car with a stolen license plate fled from a deputy and died in a crash involving a pickup truck. Three people were seriously injured in the crash.
Sheriff’s Detective Jason Stanley said the chase started Monday evening when a deputy near Covington, Washington, spotted a vehicle linked to a store theft in Covington.
There was a brief pursuit and the officer reportedly lost sight of the car. When it was spotted again, it had been involved in a crash with a pickup truck.
Stanley says the driver of the fleeing car was killed and three other people were seriously injured.
Last Wednesday, a stolen car pursuit in the Spanaway area of Pierce County ended in a crash that killed a young man and woman in the stolen vehicle.
