MERCER ISLAND — The city of Mercer Island has lifted a boil water advisory.
The city said Monday morning the latest samples have tested clear of E. coli.
The city says residents can resume drinking tap water after letting it run for 5 minutes. Ice should be discarded and ice trays sanitized.
The 62 restaurants, coffee shops and delis on the island are reopening after a visit from a health inspector, expected before noon.
Schools remain closed Monday to sanitize systems. The district says normal school operations will resume Tuesday.
The source of the bacteria that led to Saturday’s boil water advisory has not been identified. Routine testing of water samples continues.
There are no reports of anyone becoming sick from E. coli from drinking water on Mercer Island.
