Sound Publishing Inc., owner of The Daily Herald in Everett, has purchased the Daily World in Aberdeen from Las Vegas-based Stephens Media. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal also includes three weekly newspapers: the Monestano Vidette, the North Coast News in Ocean Shores, and the South Beach Bulletin.
A subsidiary of Surrey, British Columbia-based Black Press Group Ltd., Sound Publishing is the state’s largest community news organization, publishing 38 community daily, weekly and monthly news publications. It purchased The Daily Herald in March 2013.
In a related move, Oahu Publications Inc., another Black Press subsidiary, will acquire two newspapers in Hawaii from Stephens Media: West Hawaii Today and the Hawaii Tribune-Herald in Hilo.
