SPOKANE VALLEY — A 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday evening and accused of a Spokane Valley arson spree.
KXLY reported that he is being charged with arson for two house fires and five grass fires, but he’s suspected in a total of 23 fires in the past two weeks. The total property loss was previously estimated at $700,000.
Officials at a news conference Wednesday morning said investigators cracked the case with tips from people who had seen the teen driving a white four-door sedan.
KREM reported that investigators also obtained surveillance video near locations where fires had been started.
The arson task force investigating the case is made up of Fire District 8, Spokane Valley Fire and the Department of Natural Resources along with Spokane County sheriff’s deputies and Liberty Lake police.
