After reading the Everett Herald’s editorial board’s endorsement of Mike Wilson for 44th Representative Position 2, I was amazed at how little substance was in the reasoning. (“Mike Wilson, worth the wager.”) The editorial mentions the McCleary decision, and of course, since Mike is a teacher, then he is the best choice? I was a sailor for 20 years so I am a perfect choice for Secretary of Defense? The logic escapes me on this idea.
Mike Wilson supports I-1351 to reduce class sizes but has no idea how to pay for it. He says he is open to new streams of revenue; that is political speak for more taxes. Implementing a state income tax is part of the Washington State Democratic Party’s platform, maybe that is what Mike Wilson is suggesting. I am sure we are all up for surrendering more of our hard-earned money to the state instead of using it for our own well-being.
Washington has tough issues to deal with in the next session. Mark Harmsworth is in his second term in the Mill Creek City Council and is mayor pro-tem, he is very familiar with the fiscal issues facing the state. Mark Harmsworth’s immersion in municipal finances makes him the perfect candidate to deal with the McCleary decision and the hard fiscal decisions that must be made; he makes them as a city councilmember regularly.
Mark Harmsworth uses experience, knowledge, common sense, and facts to make his legislative decisions, we need his calm reasoning and problem solving in Olympia. Mark has earned our votes, but become informed and visit his website www.markharmsworth.com.
