MONROE — The Washington State Department of Transportation has projects under way that are expected to cause delays for drivers in east Snohomish County through mid-October.
WSDOT plans to extend the closure of the Highway 522 fly-over ramp to eastbound U.S. 2. It is scheduled to remain in effect until 5 a.m. on Oct. 15.
Drivers can still get to U.S. 2. People should travel to the end of Highway 522 where a signalized intersection allows drivers to turn east or west onto U.S. 2.
During the past month, crews have been repairing the bridge deck and placing new concrete as part of the Highway 522 widening project. It is scheduled to be completed late this year.
There’s another project expected to impact traffic this week. Highway 203 from U.S. 2 to East Main Street is scheduled to close from 7 p.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway plans to repair the railroad crossing at South Lewis Street. Drivers are expected to detour using U.S. 2 and East Main Street. Local business traffic can use East Stretch and Hill streets.
Near Snohomish, crews are expected to conduct bridge maintenance. A single lane of Highway 522 at the Snohomish River Bridge is scheduled to be closed from 7 to 10 a.m. on Sunday. Traffic will be flagged through the closure.
