Thank you, Herald, for the two articles “And they say cats have 9 lives” and “Blessed are the creatures” on the front page, accompanied with interesting pictures.
In a world of so much hurt and pain, it is encouraging to learn of people who have compassion and understanding of the role God has given to “man’s best friend.” Our four-footed friends are the epitome of unconditional love and deserve man’s best care, love, treatment and consideration. Never should they be treated cruelly.
Too often people do not understand the nature of canines being pack animals. They need, desperately, the companionship of either other dogs or people. To leave them alone in a yard with a fence with no openings, to close them off from life around them, to fail to walk and play with them, are only a few ways that people are cruel to these sensitive creations, who, by the way, have souls — that is mind, will and emotion. Please love and treat your dog with the love and respect they deserve.
“God said I need somebody strong enough to pull sleds and find bombs, yet gentle enough to love babies and lead the blind. Somebody who will spend all day on a couch with a resting head and supportive eyes to lift the spirits of a broken heart, so God made a dog.” (author unknown.)
