I have some questions that I have not seen addressed in the discussion of building a new Snohomish County Courthouse: What will happened to the existing courthouse? Will it stand idle and empty for years? Will it be torn down? Will it be retrofitted and reused by the county? If so, why not retrofit it for a courthouse? Will it be sold? Who will want this building that the county deemed ill-suited and outdated? If it is cost-prohibitive to retrofit as a courthouse, who will incur the cost to retrofit it for any other purpose? Would this building’s location on the county campus be suitable for any non-government purpose?
I question, too, if the subject was totally exhausted as to the plausibility of building a new courthouse directly north of the existing courthouse. I think that option was glossed over rather quickly.
Who will answer these questions?
