You can see the full list of playing time totals below, but a few highlights
Offense
—TE Cooper Helfet, making his first start, was on the field a lot (83 percent), while just-signed backup RaShaun Allen played 15 percent of snaps.
—A week after being inactive, rookie WR Paul Richardson was on the field for 59 percent of Seattle’s offensive plays. Meanwhile Ricardo Lockette played just three snaps (4%) on offense.
—Two other players making their 2014 debuts played sparingly: WR Kevin Norwood, 11%, and RB Christine Michael (10%)
—With FB Derrick Coleman out, Robert Turbin saw his workload increase, playing 42 percent of the snaps.
Defense
—One of the big questions coming into the game was how the Seahawks would handle their D-line rotation with Jordan Hill and Cassius Marsh out. Greg Scruggs, who was active for the first time, did pick up part of the slack with 20 percent playingtime, but more than that, the Seahawks just increased the work loads of everyone else, most notably Michael Bennett, who was on the field for 44 of 49 snaps. While 90% represents a big increase for Bennett, 49 plays isn’t a ton for the defense, so it wasn’t actually that much of a change in workload for him or others who saw their percentages go up like Brandon Mebane (76%) and Tony McDaniel (61%).
—Two weeks after being left out of the linebacker rotation, Malcolm Smith was on the field for every defensive snap thanks to Bobby Wagner’s injury.
—After beginning the game as Seattle’s nickel corner, Marcus Burley had a busy day (76%) following Tharold Simon’s injury. Simon, meanwhile, played 19 snaps in his debut before the injury.
Special teams
—DeShawn Shead (86%), Brock Coyle (86%), Mike Morgan (86%), Jeron Johnson (82%), Kevin Pierre Louis (61%), Malcolm Smith (50%) and O’Brien Schofield (43%) saw the most action on special teams. Because of injuries, however, the Seahawks also asked for minor contributions from people who haven’t been regular contributors on special teams like Robert Turbin (18%) and Kevin Norwood (11%), which played a small role in a bad day for that unit.
