In a few days, Snohomish County voters will receive a ballot in the mail. As one of your Snohomish County Superior Court judges, I am painfully aware that many people do not vote for judges because they don’t have enough knowledge to make an informed choice. Given that the judiciary is a critical part of our society, this is a mistake.
This year, voters will elect a judge to fill a vacant seat on the Everett District Court bench. In this contested race, Anthony Howard is the obvious choice. Three years ago, Howard was unanimously appointed by the Snohomish County District Court Judges to be the court’s commissioner. In this role, he has presided over hundreds of trials, motions and every type of calendar that District Court judges handle. He has also reviewed and signed almost 2,000 search warrants. He has earned the respect and endorsement of the court staff and all of the judges of the District Court, as well as six of the county’s law enforcement organizations. In the recent poll of Snohomish County attorneys, Anthony Howard was rated four times higher than his opponent as best qualified for the position. He has gained the backing of both Snohomish County Republican and Democratic parties because of his even-handed attention to justice. Finally, he has achieved the admiration of myriad people who appear before him as the court goes about its daily business.
Anthony Howard’s integrity, experience and commitment are the some of the many reasons I support him for this position. His overwhelming list of endorsements indicates that many others feel the same way. Please join us in electing Anthony Howard on Nov. 4.
