SEATTLE — Minority enrollment is growing at Washington’s public colleges and universities. School officials reported this week that total enrollment continues its upward trend.
The University of Washington, Washington State University, Western Washington University and Eastern Washington University all reported increases in student population, including some record numbers.
Total public university enrollment grew by about 3,800 students between fall 2013 and fall 2014.
Most of the state’s four-year colleges also reported an increase in diversity on their campuses, with one official giving credit to the College Bound scholarship program. The statewide program that asks low-income kids to commit to college while they’re still in middle school sent its second group of students to college this fall.
