The NFL release an update on TV ratings, which showed not just that the NFL is still king, but that the Seahawks in particular are a big draw as the defending champs. Of the top five most-watched games this season, three involved the Seahawks.
The top ranked time slot this season was the Fox Sunday National broadcast on Oct. 12, which for almost the entire country was the Seahawks-Cowboys game. No. 3 on the list is the CBS Sunday National game from Sept. 21, which for most viewers meant Seahawks-Broncos. And fifth on the list is Seattle’s season opening victory over Green Bay. If you’re curious, 49ers-Cowboys was No. 2 on the list, and Giants-Cowboys was No. 4, so yes, the Cowboys are also a huge draw.
For last week’s games, 28 of 30 NFL markets made NFL football the top-ranked show of the week locally. The only exceptions were St. Louis, which understandably chose playoff baseball over the Rams-Seahawks game, and Pittsbugh, because the Steelers didn’t play Sunday. Instead, we learned that people in Pittsburgh like The Big Bang Theory more than they do NFL games not involving their team.
