The choice for one Everett City Council position this fall is between an appointee and a challenger. Each will stand before the voters for the first time. I support Judy Tuohy for several reasons: her business sense, her experience building a successful organization from the bottom up, and her influence on the arts and culture of our community. As our city faces its post-recession challenges, Judy has called for looking at the fundamentals of public finance instead of merely raising a tax here or a fee over there. She will lay all the options on the table and will seek out the public’s opinions as she and fellow councilmembers seek to provide essential services at a reasonable cost.
Her opponent is a good man who stepped forward when a vacancy occurred on the council. The breadth of Judy’s knowledge and involvement, however, gives voters the opportunity to bring diversity to the council beyond what currently exists.
Judy Tuohy has my vote and I hope she has yours.
