John Lovick’s missteps cause me apprehension. Demanding back the Department of Information Services from the Auditor’s Office is a heavy-handed attempt to regain control for no good reason. I disagree with the decision to build a new courthouse and hand out large raises to department heads during economically depressed times. The jail, under Mr. Lovick’s supervision as sheriff, had difficulties, still unresolved and remains an economic burden for the county.
I originally met Carolyn Eslick when she stopped by my congressional campaign meeting to say hello. She listens intently, speaking honestly while emphasizing compromise or alternatives. Her agenda put simply; make things happen and make sure they happen in the best way possible.
Lovick may be a better politician, but Carolyn Eslick has superior management skills, something far more crucial to the position she seeks. She gathers together people to work on problems. Even in conversations we had at the Firewheel Community Coffeehouse, Carolyn would ask me what I thought, or what I would do. Of course she has her own ideas, but she wants everyone’s thoughts before moving ahead. That kind of attitude makes for smart, well-thought-out, fiscally responsible decision making.
Carolyn Eslick strikes me as the right choice, keeping politics to a minimum and focus always on the job ahead. For county executive, we need her fiscal responsibility, management and people skills. Carolyn Eslick fits the bill and she has my vote. I ask that you also give her your consideration.
