The Seahawks parted ways with two players, but did not immediately announce corresponding moves, so at least for the time being, their roster sits a 51 players. Receiver Phil Bates, who was signed off of the practice squad last week, as well as tight end Brett Brackett, who Seattle claimed off waivers last week, were both waived.
The Seahawks will fill those roster spots sometime soon, but not with players acquired in trades. The NFL’s trade deadline passed Tuesday afternoon, and the Seahawks did not add, nor part with any players via trade.
The Seahawks can bring cornerback Jeremy Lane back from the injured reserve/designated to return list next week, but not sooner, so he isn’t filling one of those open spots. The Seahawks could add a player off their practice squad, or be looking at outside help. Another possibility is rookie Eric Pinkins, who has returned to practice but is still on the non-football injury/reserve list.
