EvCC named ‘Military Friendly School’
Everett Community College has been named a Military Friendly School, ranking it among the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools serving active duty military personal, veterans and military families. Victory Media selected EvCC for its 2015 Military Friendly Schools list after evaluating more than 8,000 schools nationwide. This was the fifth year EvCC earned the designation.
Hospitals honored for improving patient safety
Cascade Valley Hospital in Arlington and Providence Regional Medical Center Everett were recognized for outstanding achievement in improving patient safety at the 82nd annual meeting of the Washington State Hospital Association in Seattle.
Clothes For Kids event raises $6,000
Lynnwood’s Clothes For Kids concluded another successful Brew &Bluegrass event at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell on Oct. 18 thanks to contributions from businesses, groups and community members. The event raised more than $6,000 total for the non-profit. Big E Ales won first prize for the brewery category and Chandler Reach won first for the winery category in the competition.
Class to teach landscapers about rain gardens
Rain Garden Training for Landscape Professionals is scheduled for Nov. 12 and 14 at Van Haley House, Everett. Terrace to give funds for tourism projects
Lodging tax funds in the amount of $25,000 is available to qualified applicants for projects and events that promote tourism in 2015 in Mountlake Terrace. Insurers required to re-evaluate mental health denials
Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler is directing all health insurers in Washington state to identify any policyholders who had mental health services denied because of a blanket or categorical exclusion since Jan. 1, 2006 and notify them of their right to have their claim re-evaluated. Insurers may not use blanket exclusions for mental health services that may be medically necessary.
