Regarding the Herald Editorial Board’s election endorsements on Sunday: Has the editorial board ever met a tax it didn’t like? The Lynnwood transportation tax benefit district proposal, which would make Lynnwood’s total sales tax the highest in the state, really ticks me off. A supporter was “No more free ride,” while the editorial endorsement stated out of town shoppers would pay a fair share. Really? Why does Lynnwood seem to be at war with non-residents (recall the revenue-generating red light cameras?) Where would Lynnwood’s finances be without the millions in sales tax revenue brought in from non-residents shopping at Alderwood mall and other businesses? So, how about this: I’ll boycott Alderwood and Lynnwood if this passes. I’m about to buy a new iPhone 6 and have Christmas coming up, but hey, I can easily shop elsewhere!
Also, regarding the Friday commentary on I-594 and the National Instant Check System in the same edition, “Firearm background checks should be state responsibility”: It’s mindboggling this paranoid drivel, devoid of any facts, was semi-legitimized as a “guest commentary”!
