Prep football: Everett 27, Shorewood 16

EVERETT — Thien Ngo rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries to lead the Everett football team to its first victory of the season, a 27-16 victory over Shorewood in a Wesco 3A crossover matchup.

“It was a great night,” Everett coach Will Soren said. “The kids played hard and have continued to improve. Tonight we put it together and played a full four quarters.”

Ngo scored on runs of 2 and 13 yards. As a team, the Seagulls rushed for 231 yards and four touchdowns.

“We ran the ball well tonight,” Soren said. “(Ngo) kind of sparked us and got us going. He has worked hard and it’s good to see him do well.”

Defensively, Everett held the T-birds to just 169 yards of total offense. Shorewood scored on a Dalton Eyler 53-yard interception return and a 1-yard run by Justin Cho.

“We tackled better than we have and we did a nice job of having 11 bodies rally to the football,” Soren said. “We played really good, solid team defense which helped us against the run and the pass.”
