VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark County sheriff’s office says a shooting suspect in Vancouver has been found dead.
The Columbian reports that 59-year-old John Kendall was found dead Friday, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot, near an intersection in Blandford Canyon.
In a phone interview, Sgt. Fred Nieman declined to confirm whether Kendall’s gunshot was self-inflicted. He said police did shoot and injure another person in the area. He said it’s not clear why that person was in the area or whether he had any connection to Kendall. That person has been taken to a hospital.
Nieman said no officers were hurt.
Kendall was wanted in connection with the shooting of his neighbor, 33-year-old Abigail Mounce, in a car Friday morning. She was listed in critical condition.
The Columbian reported that Mounce and her husband had sued Kendall for renting rooms in his five-bedroom home in violation of neighborhood covenants. Kendall had been due to appear in court Friday.
