Prep football: Lake Stevens 52, Jackson 14

EVERETT — Andrew Grimes carried 16 times for 304 yards and three touchdowns as Lake Stevens overcame a sluggish start to rout Jackson 52-14 in a Wesco 4A game on Friday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.

The Timberwolves (0-7 league, 1-8 overall) held the vaunted Lake Stevens offense scoreless in the first quarter, and used a 13-yard touchdown pass from Alex Cheesman to sophomore tight end Markus Sullivan to take a 7-0 lead.

Brandon Otis’ 64-yard punt return touchdown — the sophomore’s second in as many weeks — served to jump-start Lake Stevens (7-0, 8-1) on both sides of the ball, and the Vikings scored 52 unanswered points from the beginning of the second quarter until midway through the fourth.

Jacob Eason threw a pair of second-half touchdown passes for Lake Stevens, one to Hunter Eckstrom and the other to Tevin Gray.
