The Seahawks will be without starting center Max Unger on Sunday, but if you’re looking for good news, consider that linebacker Bobby Wagner is expected to play, and by getting him back, along with other players who have returned from injuries in recent weeks like Kam Chancellor, Byron Maxwell and Jeremy Lane, the defense is as healthy as it has been since early in the season. The Seahawks last had all of their defensive starters in their fifth game, the home loss to Dallas, and they lost Maxwell and Wagner in that game. Lane, not technically a starter but Seattle’s nickel cornerback, missed eight weeks with a groin injury following the opener. And while Brandon Mebane is on injured reserve, Seattle’s other 10 defensive starters, as well as most top backups, will be available.
“We’re getting right at the right time,” Wagner said.
In addition to getting Wagner back, the Seahawks might be getting an improved version of Chancellor back as well. Chancellor, who battled hip and ankle injuries early in the season before missing two games with a groin injury, returned last week, and with two healthy weeks of practice under his belt, is, “At the best that’s he’s been,” Carroll said. “He’s quick, he’s determined. He’s really on it. He didn’t miss a snap. This is the best week of preparation coming off a game that he’s had so that’s a really good sign.”
And not that there was much doubt, but Marshawn Lynch is good to go after returning to practice Friday. This is the third straight week that Lynch only practiced one day.
