Kohl Bauml will serve as the Everett Silvertips’ captain for the 2014-15 Western Hockey League season, the team announced Friday afternoon prior to its game at Victoria.
Bauml, who turns 20 on Tuesday, is in his fourth season with the Tips. This season he has eight goals and 10 assists through 20 games, ranking fourth on the team in scoring. He served as an alternate captain last season, as well as for the first two months of this season as Everett played without anyone wearing the “C” on his jersey.
Bauml becomes the 11th captain in franchise history.
“To be in the same category as some of the previous captains of this team is pretty special for me,” Bauml said in a press release. “You see the Captains’ Wall every day walking into the locker room and knowing quite a few guys on that list, from Mitch Love to (Ryan) Murray and (Matt) Pufahl, that makes it a special thing for me.”
Bauml’s fellow overagers, defenseman Ben Betker and winger Brayden Low, will continue to serve as alternate captains, as they have since the beginning of the season.
