Seahawks win 19-3
The Seahawks defense was as good as it has been in a long time, Russell Wilson was efficient despite being sacked seven times, and the Seahawks won a very important game in convincing fashion. The Seahawks still have work to do to catch up to Arizona, but at 7-4, their playoff hopes are alive and well, and they showed a lot of encouraging things that should bode well for their future.

A touchdown!
After some bad offense from both teams, we finally witnessed a real live touchdown here at CenturyLink Field. Russell Wilson hit Cooper Helfet for a 20-yard touchdown to cap a nine-play, 75-yard drive.
Wilson completed all six pass attempts on that possession, and also scrambled for 15 yards on third-and-11 to keep the chains moving. It was by far the best he and the offense have looked so far today.
Seahawks now lead 19-3.
Short field leads to another Seahawks FG
Not much is working for the Seahawks’ offense right now, but they lead 12-3 thanks to a DeShawn Shead blocked punt and another Steven Hauschka field goal.
Seahawks lead 9-3 at halftime
After not getting much done for most of the half, the Arizona offense put together a sold 15-play, 74-yard drive to get a field goal at the end of the half. It could have been 9-7, but Jaron Brown dropped a pass in the end zone that hit him in the chest, leading to a short field goal.
That drive came on the heels of an empty red zone trip for the Seahawks, who had a field goal blocked. The Seahawks appeared to have a touchdown on a long Russell Wilson run, but Jermaine Kearse was flagged for holding. The run still gave the Seahawks the ball at the 19-yard line, but two more sacks—the Cardinals had five in the half—meant a long field goal attempt, which was blocked.
A few first-half stats:
The Cardinals out-gained Seattle 117-115 on the strength of that last drive, and had nine first downs to Seattle’s five.
Russell Wilson was 7 of 10 for 94 yards, but has complete just two passes to his receivers. Marshawn Lynch had just 14 yards on seven carries, while Wilson had 39 on two rushes, including a 40-yarder.
Drew Stanton went 9 for 18 for 85 yards and an interception, while he and Andre Ellington each had 13 rushing yards to lead the team. Former Seahawk John Carlson was Arizona’s leading receiver in the half with 25 yards on three catches.
Maxwell interception leads to another field goal
It’s now 9-0 Seahawks, though you can’t say they failed in the red zone this time, because they didn’t get there. Byron Maxwell gave Seattle a short field by intercepting Drew Stanton, but the offense went nowhere, and Wilson was sacked for the third time.
Marshawn Lynch did return for the series, but did not touch the ball.
Seahawks get a big play, but settle for another field goal.
Russell Wilson hit Ricardo Lockette for a 48-yard gain, but again the Seahawks came up short in the red zone, this time because of two sacks, and had to settle for a short field goal.
Going back to that big play, Russell Wilson did a tremendous job looking off coverage, and as a result Patrick Peterson let Lockette go thinking he had safety help, which he didn’t. Wilson then made a very good throw without resetting himself, meaning his shoulder, feet, etc were still pointing left, and he still threw a strike to Lockette.
The Seahawks are now 0 for 2 in the red zone after going 2 for 5 last week.
Also, Marshawn Lynch has missed two series. He was announced as probable to return with a back injury.
Cardinals miss field goal
The Cardinals got into Seahawks territory thanks to a 39-yard pass interference call on Byron Maxwell. That call had Pete Carroll and most of the defense irate, but in the end it didn’t hurt the Seahawks, because Arizona kicker Chandler Catanzaro missed a 49-yard field goal.
Seahawks take early 3-0 lead
The Seahawks defense forced a quick three-and-out after the Cardinals started w/ bad field position thanks to good Seattle kick coverage. Kevin Williams, who is starting in place of Brandon Mebane, had a tackle for loss to back the Cardinals up even farther, and after a decent return from Bryan Walters on the ensuing punt, the Seahawks got the ball at Arizona’s 49-yard line.
Thanks to a few Marshawn Lynch runs and a Tony Moeaki catch, the Seahawks got deep into Arizona territory, but ended up settling for a 27-yard field goal on fourth-and-1.
A couple of personnel notes, as expected, Bobby Wagner is back at his starting spot at middle linebacker, and Patrick Lewis started at center, not the recently re-signed Lemuel Jeanpierre.
