LAKE STEVENS — Snohomish County sheriff’s detectives provided no new information Monday about their investigation into the shooting of a 3-year-old boy in Lake Stevens.
The next update was expected Tuesday morning, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The boy on Monday remained in serious condition in the intensive care unit, Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said.
He suffered extensive injuries to his mouth and face.
Detectives are investigating whether a 4-year-old neighbor accidentally shot the younger boy on Friday while the two were playing in a bedroom in a home on the 600 Block of East Lake Shore Drive.
The injured boy’s father reported that he heard a loud noise from the room and forced open the locked door. The boy was taken to Providence Medical Center Everett, where doctors determined that the child had a gunshot wound to the mouth. He later was airlifted to Harborview.
A fund is set up to assist with medical costs at www.gofundme.com/babymichael.
