SEATTLE — A longtime Everett firefighter is now been charged with attempting to hire a 15-year-old prostitute from a man who turned out to be an undercover Seattle police detective.
David P. Vier, 60, was charged Tuesday with one count of attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor.
Vier, of Arlington, has been free on bail while awaiting trial on the King County Superior Court charge. He is on paid administrative leave from his city job and is the focus of an internal investigation, Everett Fire Chief Murray Gordon said.
“We recognize that the Seattle Police Department’s investigation involving Mr. Vier is ongoing. However, the alleged behavior is unacceptable, and entirely inconsistent with the Everett Fire Department’s policies and the standards to which we hold our firefighters,” Gordon said in a prepared statement.
Vier was arrested Nov. 19 after an online sting targeting men looking for sex with underage girls. He allegedly used the email account “Fire Medic Pete Vier” to negotiate with a detective who was posing as a man who was willing to sell sex with his teenage daughter for $150.
Vier was carrying condoms and other sexually oriented paraphernalia when he reportedly showed up for a meeting with the fictitious girl.
