SPOKANE — For the second time in less than a year, federal regulators have cited a state-run home for people with disabilities for failing to comply with the law.
The Centers for Medicare &Medicaid Services conducted a surprise inspection at the Lakeland Village Nursing Facility and found a list of violations. They ranged from strapping residents to chairs in front of a television sets or facing the wall for hours at a time. The new report follows more than 40,000 violations in November 2013.
A spokesman for state Developmental Disabilities Administration says they place the highest value on the care and safety of the residents and they’ve taken steps to fix the problems, but a disability rights advocate say the facility should be shut down.
