Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said last week that the version of Kam Chancellor he had seen in practice was the best he’d seen all season. Chancellor battled bone spurs in his ankles and a hip injury early this season, and clearly wasn’t at his best, then missed two games with a groin injury, but last week he turned a corner and started looking like his old self.
And apparently Carroll was right about his practice observations, because Chancellor played arguably his best game of the season, as did the entire Seahawks defense, and as a result he was named the NFC defensive player of the week for the second time this season. Chancellor had a team-high eight tackles, and while he didn’t register any other stats, his presence was clearly felt on the field.
Chancellor also earned player of the week honors for his Week 3 performance against Denver in which he had nine tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.
