MARYSVILLE — Prosecutors this week charged a couple with multiple sex crimes against their 6-year-old daughter, whom they are accused of raping and letting others abuse her.
The Marysville parents were arrested earlier this month after it was learned that they reportedly posted nearly 200 ads on Craigslist soliciting people to engage in “taboo” sex acts, including watching incest. Investigators found e-mail between the Marysville man, 56, reportedly offering up his daughter for sex to a man in Texas, court papers said.
The Herald is not naming the suspects to protect the identity of the girl and her infant brother.
The parents reportedly admitted to abusing their daughter. Police also found evidence that she was molested by at least one other adult. Investigators recovered videos and photographs that documented the abuse, court papers said.
As charged, the couple faces up to 26 years in prison. Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Elise Deschenes said that if the case goes to trial she will add more charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office also has expressed interest in charging the couple with federal crimes, Deschenes wrote.
